Gibraltar's Chief Judge appointed to succeed Schofield

Gibraltarian judge Anthony Dudley, 43, was yesterday formally appointed Chief Justice of Gibraltar. He is the first Gibraltarian to be appointed to that office on a non-acting basis. Mr Justice Dudley has been acting Chief Justice for over two years since his predecessor Derek Schofield was suspended in September 2008. The post became vacant in October when Chief Justice Schofield was removed from office. This is the first time a Gibraltarian has been appointed to the post. (Read more on Gibraltar Chronicle.)
