Access to Pinar del Rey to cost €3 per vehicle

SAN ROQUE
The arrival of Spring brings with it the transfromation of Pinar del Rey Park (photo). It becomes one of the area's prime picnic and recreation spots, especially on weekends. But this will be the first year that a charge will be made at the park's entrances starting some time after Easter and only on Sundays, although there is no exact date coming from the Council. Monies collected will be used for maintenance of the park, often referred to as 'the lung of San Roque'. The measure was passed at a Council meeting with votes against by the PSOE opposition, although it was that party that first introduced the idea in 2000 but was never put into effect even while it was published at the time in the Official Provincial Bulletin.
