EU to oblige payment to suppliers in 30 days

EU/SPAIN (Agencies) If you've ever supplied a product or service to a public entity in Spain (or Greece, Italy or Portugal for that matter) and been made to wait indefinitely for payment, this is excellent news. The European Union yesterday approved a proposal whereby public entities such as councils, ministries, etc. will be obliged to pay their suppliers in 30 days. Aimed at helping the small and medium businesses of the Union, it is a way to "stop small businesses from acting as bankers to governments at all levels," according to German MEP Barbara Weiler.
