Council rescinds Sotogrande geriatric centre contract

SAN ROQUE/Sotogrande (Agencies) The Council recently approved the final cancellation of the contract with Savidi, the company that had the contract to build a geriatric centre in Sotogrande. The original contract between the Council, which owns the land, and the company that was to build and run the centre goes back to February 2006 and included a levy to be paid by the latter from the moment of signature, The payments were never received despite numerous requests from the Town Hall, so in September last year a court found in favour of San Roque and ordered Savidi to pay up. Nevertheless, Savidi appealed the order and requested that thefinal decision should be made by the Junta's Consejo Consultivo (Consultation Council) with the result that the rescision process now stops until such a decision is made.
