Minors identified as those throwing stones onto the N-340

Stones thrown from here (EuropaSur)
ALGECIRAS (Agencies) A series of very dangerous incidents have been happening at the El Saladillo area of the town. Several vehicles, including lorries, cars and even buses carrying passengers have been subjected to stones being thrown at them. Fortunately no serious accidents have occurred although the authorities say this is more by good luck than anything else, although one truck driver did get quite a lot of glass in his eyes and only just managed to avoid collision with vehicles coming from the opposite side of the road. It has been very difficult to find the perpetrators despite measures involving considerable numbers of police. But they have now been arrested.>A special unit of the National Police was called in and they have managed to detain a number of minors with ages ranging from 13 to 16. The case began to take shape when, on the leventh of this month, a plain clothes unit caught one of the boys as he was throwing stones at a lorry passing by. His arrest was followed by the arrest of the remaining perpetrators, all of whom came from that so-called 'marginal' area. They will all be appearing at Juvenile caught soon, except the 13 year old who is not considered criminally responsible because of his age.

The many near accidents caused a considerable alarm among drivers using that portion of the N-340, particularly among bus companies, who were forced to change a couple of routes to avoid further damage to their vehicles or passengers.
