LA LÍNEA (Agencies) The municipal workers of La Línea will be out in force again to protest that they had not been paid three month's wages: January, February and the extra annual pay due in December. This despite the fact that two different spokespeople for the Ayuntamiento said last week that a 'banking operation' for four million euros had been obtained and approved by the Council, of which most would go towards back pay. A demo some weeks ago apparently caused Mayor Alejandro Sánchez to call union representatives 'a cancer' and 'professional lazies with cast iron wages.' It is not unusual for these demos to be held at the frontier with Gibraltar, causing traffic jams and delays, but we have no word on the date for the next round of protests.)
