The nuns kept the money in plastic bags, mostly in €500 notes, inside a wardrobe. The incident took place on Monday, February 28, when the nuns called the police at about 7.30am to report that there had been a break-in and a 'considerable amount of money had disappeared'. On being asked, the nuns said that the money was 'a lifetime of savings'.
