SPAIN (Agencies) The El Corte Inglés group, which includes Supercor, Hipercor and Opencor, will be charging €0.05 (five céntimos) for the traditional plastic bags at all their establishments as from June 27. The largest retail group in Spain thus joins Carrefour, Eroski, Mercadona and others in charging for the bags, in line with the Plan Nacional Integral de Residuos and the law set out in the planned Ley de Residuos. While the usual plastic bag will cost 5 céntimos, re-usable bags will be charged at 50 céntimos. In a recent statemen the company said that it had been working for three years to raise awareness on the need to reduce the use of these bags.
