Sergio García wins at Valderrama, Miguel Ángel Jiménez second

SAN ROQUE / Valderrama (Agencies) Sergio García has finally broken the curse of Valderrama. He has played what has often been called the best course in continental Europe, but he had never won there until yesterday. Not only that but he is also the first Spaniard to win a major tournament on the course. In a heart stopping final round, he had to bare with pressure from Richie Ramsay and especially, from Miguel Ángel Jiménez. García was not doing too well in the first nine holes, but he did manage to correct himslef from the rough on a couple of occasions, when his drive off the tee put him in the high grass. Still, the steel of a champion came out into the sunshine on the back nine. He even hit a ball at the edge of the water, while he was in the water himself (see below). It's his second consecutive win - the man's on a roll!
