Media Markt director detained in corruption scandal

GERMANY (Agencies) Michael Rook, the Managing Director of Media Markt in Germany was arrested for his alleged participation in a corruption scandal that has rocked the company, according to the spokesperson for the Prosecutor of Augsburg, Christian Engelsberger, who is in charge of the case. Rook is suspected of bribery in 70 cases and was suspended from his job at the end of October. It is believed that Media Markt employees in Germany could have made illegal payments of up to €3.5 million for promoting sales of broadband products.
