Roman ruins at Carteia |
SAN ROQUE (Press releases) The Department of Tourism has announced a fairly busy month of May in the municipality that includes 30 different events and activities. Thirty golfing tournaments are programmed, for instance, as are guided tours of the town's old quarter and at the Roman remains at Carteia, as well as four events at La Alcaidesa. Many of these events are linked to a new Tapas Route. Councillor Juan José Puerta, who heads the department, said that the programme has been in preparation for several months, particularly the Feria de la Tapa (Tapa Fair) that is scheduled for the first weekend in June. "We want to promote small- and medium-sized business," said the Councillor, "especially the hospitality industry, which we hope will be taking part in its majority, and which will not impact the municipal coffers in the least."
