GIBRALTAR
The Government of Gibraltar took it upon itself to carry out an epidemiological study of the area, but the Rock had to go it alone because Spain refused to cooperate (see 'Something smells very, very rotten in the Campo de Gibraltar' below). A Government spokesperson siad, "We have tried to carry out a study of the area's health in conjunction with the Spanish authorities since 2004," adding that as a result of Spain's non-cooperation the study by the Institute of Environmental Investigation, a department of Aarhus University in Denmark, will be restricted to Gibraltar exclusively. The study began in May last year and is in the final process of analysis and is expected to be released during the last quarter of this year, depending on the variables under investigation.
