GIBRALATAR / LA LÍNEA
The Guardia Civil has confiscated over 12,000 packs of cigarrettes at the border so far this year, according to a press release. All of them were seized at the border post in 569 searches for contraband, which also resulted in the confiscation of 295 vehicles. Many of these were found to have false bottoms and compartments used to smuggle brands such as Winston, Marlboro and L&M. The seizures are the result of a special anti-smuggling campaign at both the vehicle and walk-through exits from the Rock.
