Jimena Mayor Pascual Collado was present this morning at the official press presentation of the XI Campo de Gibraltar History Workshops that are taking place at the Reina Sofía Cultural Centre in Jimena next weekend. Organized by the Instituto de Estudios Campogibraltareños (IECG) every other year, this edition is dedicated to Jimena's Official Chronicler José Regueira Ramos and Gibraltarian Tito Benady. Scheduled to begin on Thursday 22 (see complete programme here), a total of 36 'communications' and two major lectures, the event is expected to bring together at least 50 area experts in History, Ancient, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary, according to the director of IECG, Ángel Sáez. The Mayor, for his part, thanked the Institute for choosing Jimena for this year's venue, pointing out the links between it and the symbol of culture in Jimena, the paintings at Laja Alta. Collado also announced that, during the workshops, he will probably be able to confirm some important news regarding conservation of the castle area. (This article also appears on JimenaPulse)
