Gibraltar opposition rejects independence and joint sovereignty

GIBRALTAR (GibChronicle) GSLP/Libs has declared that it remains totally against any discussion or negotiation of the sovereignty of Gibraltar with Spain as it can only lead to dilution and a weakening of British sovereignty. According to the Opposition the 2002 referendum, “has firmly closed the door to sovereignty discussions or negotiations about our future” with Madrid.” A GSLP/Lib spokesman further argued that there can be no negotiation of sovereignty with Spain without holding another referendum first to determine whether the people actually want their sovereignty to be negotiated.
