La Linea employees receive only 24% of October salaries

LA LINEA (Agencies) Municipal employees of La Linea, only received 245 of their back pay for October, despite the Council's promises of 60% made at the beginning of this week. The struggling Council's spokeswoman, María Teresa García Mellado, said at a meeting with union representatives that it had been impossible to find the promised amount. Responding to questions from the unions as to when the situation "would be normalised", substitute Mayor Gabriel Gonzálvez said, "You'll get an answer soon." Soon, too, will the remainder of the 60% be received, according to the Council, but there is no word about the rest of October's pay, never mind November's. The unions and the workers they represent are fed up, to put it politely.
