ALGECIRAS (Agencies) The Junta de Andalucía will be 'homogenizing' the several emergency plans put in place by those municipalities in Andalucía that are at risk of flooding during the rainy season. A map of the the highest risk areas will also be prepared. These are just two of the objectives of two meetings, in Córdoba and Algeciras, that took place at the beginning of this week and involved some five regional entities involved in trying to prevent major damage to homes and businesses. The meeting in Algeciras brought together mayors and other municipal representatives from San Roque, Los Barrios, Jimena and Castellar. Action in the Campo de Gibraltar includes the creation of the aforesaid map; coordination in emergency circumstances among the different municipalities under an Emergency Coordinator; identification of homes and buildings that are at risk; analysis of agricultural practices that have an effect on the flow of water; and studying 'anomalous' town planning situations. "Sometimes the actions of Man have consequences. We're going to look into it and act to avoid them," said Luis Pizarro, the Junta's Councillor for Government, who presided the meeting.
