2 year supply is guaranteed but Environment asks for caution
CAMPO DE GIBRALTAR Recent heavy rains have done little to raise the levels of the area's several reservoirs. 2011-2012 has been a very dry year, raining only 40% of the annual average. The two principal reservoirs, Guadarranque and Charco Redondo, which supply most of the Campo  de Gibraltar, received a total of only 8.27 cubic hectolitres, far from the annual average of 93. Data is not available for the other reservoir at Almodóvar. The so-called hydrologic year starts on October 1 and ends on September 30 the following year. The 2012-2013 year begins with only 48.7% of capacity for the three area reservoirs, which has led the Junta's Department of the Environment to announce that,SOON YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO READ THE REST OF THISwhile there is no immediate problem (there are also the aquifer at Pinar del Rey in San Roque, and a battery of wells along the Guadiaro River) 'we must not let our guard down'. Supply is, according to the department, guaranteed for the next few years, we should take of how much water we waste. It may not come down to having to take a shower with a friend, but we shouldn't let up our conservation of this precious liquid.
