BARCELONA The 14th annual Dual Pathology (addiction plus other mental illnesses) Workshops carried out at the Institute of Neuropsychiatry and Addictions of Barcelona's Hospital del Mar, which were held at the beginning of last month and attended by national and international experts, came up with conclusions that may be no surprise to any of the victims or their families. The main conclusion: domestic violence and drug abuse are inextricably linked. Women drug addicts, says the paper issued by the Institute, are three times more likely to suffer physical or sexual abuse from their partners than their non-addict counterparts.
