JEREZ/SPAIN (Agencies) The Ministry of Development has announced a reduction in landing and other fees at 31 of the smaller airports in Spain. The measure is aimed at attracting more traffic and thus amortize investments. It is also part of a strategy that is part of the State Budget that is being debated in parliament this week. The maneouvre will increase fees at ten of the larger airports, including Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat, and was proposed by AENA, the airport authority, so that tariffs reflect the reality of each terminal and its facilities, particularly, says the communiqué, at a time when there is a significant downturn in passenger and operations numbers. Naturally, the measure affects the airport at Jerez (photo), where renovations were finished last year.
