To scan or not to scan, that's the Spanish question

Following the introduction of body scanners at airports in Britain, Holland and the US, Spain has declared that it will not be doing so until there is consensus at EU level. Brussels has established a committee of security experts to study the matter as it impacts privacy and health issues. However, taking advantage of its new six-month presidency of the EU, Spain is to make a proposal whereby images from a scanner are automatically destroyed, according to Minister for Development José Blanco. The minister, without offering many details, says that "it is possible to reconcile the right to securith the right to privacy."
