Speed bumps 'are damaging vehicles'

(Photo: EuropaSur) Residents of Los Barrios are complaining about the speed bumps in their town. The 'sleeping policemen' meet all regulations from the Ministry of Development, who orders that that they can be prefabricated or made 'in situ'. However, many of the about 30 such bumps turn out to be quite dangerous to vehicles travelling some of the town's streets, even while doing so at minimum speed. According to a group of residents, they have already caused damage to several vehicles in the neighbourhood. Some of the bumps,>
such as four on Avenida Alcalde Don Juan Rodríguez, are also zebra crossings although these are not as high as others. Complaints are loudest about the five bumps on Avenida Doña Rosa, which is at its peak during school entry and exits - an accident victim being transported by ambulance along this road recently had to suffer further injuries because there was no alternative way to the hospital. The bumps are perfectly legal and meet the required standards.

On the other hand, there are several roads where the condition of the bumps, of earlier construction, are deplorable even while they are not as high as newer ones though equally damaging.
