RGP warns of scam

(Gibraltar Chronicle) "The Royal Gibraltar Police Financial Crime Unit are advising the community to be aware of a potential scam which may be operating in Gibraltar. It is believed that persons are being approached with a view to investing a sum of money, with the fraudulent promise of an eight fold return within a very short period, i.e. an investment of £1,250 would return £10,000. on a ‘no questions asked’ basis. Potential investors would be asked to attend a ‘presentation’, likely to be at a private residence, where they would bring the sum to be invested in cash. Investors are also being asked to bring along other investors, thus widening the ring. The Financial Crime Unit stresses that the investment being described is a scam, and urges anyone who may have been approached to contact them with information."
