'Tamborada' produces over 3,000 kilos of rubbish on beach

BARBATE (Agencies) "About 10,000" people came together last weekend for a tamborada (tambor = drum, so 'drum-in') on the beach at Caños de Meca (photo), near Babate. The authorities had not allowed the congregation but say it was impossible to stop. In any case, the Mayor of Barbate, Rafael Quirós, said that some three thousand kilos of rubbish were removed from the beach and the surrounding area, a task made more difficult because the 'drum party' that started on Saturday evening, went on until midday on Sunday. (Prospero note: Pity I missed it...)
