Former children's home head gets six years for paedophilia

GIBRALTAR (Source/Photo: GibChronicle) The former head of a children’s care home in Gibraltar was jailed for six years yesterday for sexually abusing two young girls over a period spanning five decades. Mario Cassano, 73, who was also a foster parent, admitted indecently assaulting two girls in his care. He had originally maintained his innocence but changed his plea after the Supreme Court heard harrowing evidence from the two victims, who are now aged 53 and 25.Puisne Judge Karen Prescott told Cassano that he had abused his position of trust to commit a “despicable” and “abhorrent” crime.
