SPAIN (Photo: La Repubblica/Italy) In case you hadn't noticed, Pope Benedict XVI was on a 'pastoral' trip to Spain over the weekend that included a visit to the cathedral at Santiago de Compostela (it is a Jacobean Year) and making Gaudí's Santa Familia a Basilica. As might be expected in an increasingly non-Catholic country, there were plenty of protests about the visit. The Italian press, always attentive to these matters, made much of one particular form of protest: a kiss-in by gays and lesbiansas the popemobile passed by in Barcelona. We don't know if the Pope saw them or not.
