What's happening with these buildings?

SAN ROQUE - The municipality owns a large variety of buildings and places that have remained unoccupied, some for a good number  of years. The Council now intends to renovate, restore or finish as many as possible and put them to good use. The properties include land and garages, as well as finished and unfinished buildings or commercial properties. Some of them will be used for municipal purposes, even though the present financial circumstances may prevent all the Council's good intentions from coming to fruition. The properties are spread throughout the municipality and there are some notable buildings, including some of historical value.>
For example there is a very large building on Plaza de las Viudas that used to house the town planning offices. This one, given its size, may not be under renovation soon, as the Council has no plans for its use, however.

Another building is the old court house, near the Alameda square, and yet another of historical importance is located at Estación. Called Casa Mezcua and once the home of a prominent family of the area, rehabilitation will restart before the end of this month.

Restoration of the the old Guardia Civil barracks in Guadarranque stopped a couple of years ago, when the builder abandoned the project for lack of funds. Tenders will be requested for tit soon.

Residents of some longevity will also remember the Los Remos restaurant (photo, at its most splendidly ludicrous), an establishment  founded in the 1950s that at its peak won all sorts of prizes, national and international, for its excellent cuisine. Located near the Campamento roundabout and much changed, the building was taken over by the municipality when the latter owners were no longer able to pay their rates. It is now occupied by a community asociation.

The Russo family of Gibraltar once owned another building in Campamento. This was presented a couple of years ago as a project for a leisure area, which appears to have been forgotten.

There are plenty of other such buildings, including those intended to house two health centres, one of which is the La Paz area, and another at San Enrique de Guadiaro, which is the subject of much argument at present.
