JIMENA (Photo: illustration only) - The Department of Street Cleaning at Jimena Council, headed by Councillor Juana Jiménez, announced this morning that it will soon be launching a campaign aimed at informing about the ownership of dogs and the regulations regarding these animals in the streets, their contact with people and the cleaning of their excrement. Jiménez points out that the owners are responsible for picking up the latter, and encourages us to make use of plastic bags or similar materials for this purpose. We are also reminded that dogs must be kept on leashes and under control at all times. Members of the department will be visiting local schools to increase awarenes of these matters among students and posters and informational material will be distributed.
(Prospero note: no mention is made of feral cats, mules, donkeys and horses, all of which appear to use the streets as well - and the pavements as toilets.
