ALGECIRAS (EuropaSur) The Council is to lease the rooftops of the towns sports centres for solar energy exploitation. The three centres, which will be rented to Energés SL for 25 years, will generate not only solar energy but also a 'heaven sent' €193,291 for the very undernourished municipal coffers. Some 1,344 solar panels, of 175 kilowatts, will be installed on a total 4,900 m2, offering an initial maximum output of 235.20 Kw and 355,987.40 Kw/h per year, according to the project. The plan was approved by the Mayor's Office at the beginning of December and is now at the public exhibition stage, under which appeals against it can be exercised.
