'Too many people allowed into hospital'

ALGECIRAS  A patient at the Punta de Europa Hospital in Algeciras (photo) has complained to EuropaSur about the lack of control at the accesses to the hospital. "I am really concerned about the open doors policy at the hospital," says J.V.R. He adds that the amount of people allowed to wander around the place gets in the way of medical staff trying to do their work. "Corridors, rooms and lifts are saturated; nurses and doctors have to do real balancing acts to get past the crowds, which could be dangerous to those of us who are patients here," he points out. Management at the hospital says that they have hardly received any complaints on the subject. However, they recognize that there are no specific regulations about visiting hours although on admission patients do receive a 'suggestions' sheet asking visitors to confine their visits to the afternoons.
