Earthquake in Southern Spain

MURCIA At least seven people have died in a double earthquake in the Murcia region. The first tremor, 4.4 on the Richter scale came about at approximately 5pm, followed by a stronger one, 5.3 two hours later. The epicentres of both were placed in the town of Lorca, 55 kilometers from the regional capital. Several buildings, including a XVII century chgurch, have been severely damaged. Damage assessment is ongoing, as is a building to building search for any more victms. The Government has ordered the Army Emergency units to the area.
