(Photo: Europa Sur)
LA LINEA (Agencies) Work on the new hospital being built by the Junta de Andalucía on the Ronda Norte is about 40% completed, according to Europa Sur. Things are on schedule, so the health authorities are maintaining their forecast that it should be finished by the end of 2012, as it was announced when work started in November 2009. When the building itself is finished, installation of equipment is next in line; after that comes the transfer of patients and staff, which will be done in phases so as not to interrupt health services to the area at any time.>>>

As ide from beds, the new facility will have five operating theatres, against the present one; 48 consulting rooms, instead of the present 32; four exploration rooms, two delivery rooms and four labour rooms. The Intensive Care Unit will have capacity for 34 patients, and its own heliport.

Among other up to the minute equipment will be a magnetic resonance unit of which there is no other in the Campo area hospitals. Specialist medicine capacity will be internal medicine, cardiology, pneumology, digestive, haematology, nephrology, oncology, pediatrics, mental health,  general surgery, traumatology, ophthalmology, ear nose & throat, urology dermatology, obstetrics and gynaecology. To these, add on the spot clinical analyses, microbiology, pathology, preventive medicine, radiology, rehabilitation, pharmacy and anaestheology.
