RGP in search for murder suspect

Anxiang Du
GIBRALTAR (GibChronicle / Brian Reyes) A suspect in a UK police probe into the brutal murder of a family of four in Northampton may have been spotted in Gibraltar. Police here are investigating an unconfirmed report that 52-year old Anxiang Du was seen on the Rock. Detectives in the Royal Gibraltar Police have been liaising with the murder investigation team at Northamptonshire Police for some weeks now. A spokesman for the RGP confirmed the investigation but declined to add any further details. The information about Gibraltar was revealed this week on the BBC’s Crime Watch program, which broadcast an appeal for information and released new CCTV footage of the suspect.>>>

Police want to talk to Mr Du following the murder of his former business partner, Helen Ding, who was found stabbed in her home last April together with her partner Jeff and children Nancy, 18, and Alice, 12.

The family had spent the day watching the Royal Wedding on television before the attack. For the last four months, police have been urgently trying to trace Mr Du, whose

business relationship with Mrs Ding had ended after a dispute a few years ago.

Northamptonshire Police believe that Mr Du may have left the country in the days before he became a suspect.

“Police have had an unconfirmed sighting of him in Gibraltar,” said the information released by Crime Watch.

Chinese-born Anxiang Du is 5ft 9” tall with a slim build and a bald patch, which he often covers up with a baseball cap. He speaks English with a Chinese accent.

The Gibraltar sighting is one of 300 such reports received by the UK detectives investigating the murders.

Crimestoppers have offered a reward of £10,000 for information leading to the conviction of the killer.

Anyone in Gibraltar with information relating to Mr Du is asked to phone the RGP on 200 72500.
