Crime down by 10%, says Safety Committee

Security meeting yesterday
ALGECIRAS (Agencies) Crime is down in Algeciras by an average of 9.7% over the first five months of the year, according to the sub-delegate for the Government, Javier de Torre, compared to the same period last year. The battery of statistics offered by De Torre at a meeting of the town's Security Committee yesterday, included crimes 'against a person' (we use literal translations of the nomenclature for crimes, different to those used in Britain or the US), down by 18.4%; 'robbery with intimidation', down by 17%, 'robbery with force', by 15.4% and 'crime against patrimony', by 17%, among others. On the agenda were security details regarding the Real Feria de Algeciras, which starts this weekend, and about which we are preparing a separate article.
