(Agencies / Photo: EuropaSur) Juan Montedeoca (PSOE) was invested Mayor of Los Barios at a tumultuous session of the Council. He takes over from his party colleague Ángeles Ariza, who in turn took over from Alonso Rojas (also PSOE). The socialists of Los Barrios have been involved in an internecine war among themselves since Rojas was sentenced to two and a half years of inhabilitación (barred from office) three years ago. Montedeoca, who was voted in by a show of hands, called for unity among the town's various political factions. Ariza did not show up for the voting. The session was interrupted several times by municipal workers, who have not yet been paid their May salaries in a continuing financial crisis at the town hall.
