(Gibraltar Chronicle) An unconfirmed number of redundancies have been taking place at Victor Chandler over the past few weeks as a result of the closure of its call centre, the company said yesterday. It is understood that 11 jobs could have been lost. This has occurred following the company undergoing a re-structure to reflect the changing nature of the industry. Marketing Director Peter Laverick said: “Over 99% of Victor Chandler International’s revenues now come from online sources so rather than have a traditional Call Centre which accepts bets via the telephone, as we did when we first moved to Gibraltar,>
we will operate a 24 hour contact centre which deals with all aspects of customer contact across our wide range of products — sports betting, casino, poker and games.” He added, “Regrettably such a re-structure often leads to redundancies but we will still have in excess of 250 employees in Gibraltar and hope the re-structure is complete by 1st September. Our commitment to Gibraltar remains and we have no plans to leave.”
