Franco loses Algeciras titles, but previous dictator keeps street name

ALGECIRAS (Agencies) Dictator Francisco Franco has lost the civic titles he was awarded in 1964 and 1965, when, in full dictatorship, the then Council named him Adoptive Son (the highest honour a Council can give) and Perpetual and Honorary Mayor. The measure, which comes under the Historical Memory Law, was approved unanimously by the Local Government Junta in session. However, the city still has a street named after a previous dictator (photo) who 'reigned' in the 1920s. Calle Miguel Primo de Rivera is in the centre of Algeciras, between Plaza Alta and Calle Regino Martínez.
