Illegal Alcaidesa search fallout

GIBRALTAR/SAN ROQUE (Agencies) At least one local police officer will face a disciplinary charge stemming from the unlawful search of a house in Alcaidesa (photo, illustration only) by officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police last year. That was one of the outcomes of an internal investigation into the incident, which caused international controversy and prompted Chief Minister Peter Caruana to apologise publicly to Spain. The investigation was conducted by the Royal Gibraltar Police and overseen by the Gibraltar Police Authority, which sought to establish how and why RGP officers came to search a house in Spain and seize items there, even though they had no jurisdiction to do so.
