LA LÍNEA (Agencies/Photo: EuropaSur) The fish market within the market in La Línea was completely empty yesterday (photo) as the result of a strike by the vendors announced last week. The strike is about much needed improvements to the facility and has been in demand for a long time. To coincide with the first day of the strike, at a meeting with the vendors Councillor Inmaculada Olivero announced that improvements would begin as soon as possible. However, the vendors say that they will remain on strike until the improvements are completed. Another complaint by the vendors that is to receive 'immediate attention' from the Council is the unlicensed sale of fish in the streets by itinerant people, who, according to the market vendors, "offer no guarantees of health and safety and don't pay any taxes."
