Mother leaves 2 year old locked in car outside Juvenile Court

ALGECIRAS (Agencies/Photo of the incident: EuropaSur) People in the vicinity of the Juvenile Court (Juzgado de Menores), on Plaza San Bernardo, were astounded to hear a child's crying coming from a locked car parked close to the courthouse. Just after 12 noon on Monday, several passers-by noticed that a little girl was in a frantic state inside a white Skoda Fabia and there was no adult relative about. The Guardia Civil stationed at the court were informed, but these, not being able to leave their station, in turn told the National and Local Police.>
Members of the courthouse staff tried to find someone in charge of the car; in the meantime the police, now joined by several patrol cars, and although they realized that the girl was alright, if a little frightened, were debating whether to force the car door. According o witneses at the scene, over half an hour after the child was heard crying, a young woman turned up with a key. The mother (photo, in red trousers) had been shopping nearby. She gave the police a statement and was released but the matter is now in the hands of the very court where the car had been parked.
