Local man arrested for assault on his 16 month old son

GIBRALTAR (GibChronicle) Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department investigating a serious case of domestic violence on Monday evening arrested a local man who is alleged to have seriously assaulted his ex-partner and also assaulted his 16 month old child on January 9 2011. The man, 35, and a fitness expert was being sought by police following a complaint filed against him by his ex-partner. However, it was known that he had left the jurisdiction shortly after the alleged commission of the offence. On the evening of Monday February 14 (Valentine's Day, no less!)> the RGP say the man turned himself in to the police where he was interviewed and later charged with one count of Common Assault on the 16 month old child, one count of Indecent Assault on the ex-partner, one count of Assault Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm on the ex-partner, one count of False Imprisonment whereby having assaulted his ex-partner he unlawfully and injuriously imprisoned and detained her against her will, one count of Kidnapping whereby he unlawfully and by force took and carried away his ex-partner against her will. The man remained in police custody until his appearance in court on February 15 2011 where he has been remanded in custody at HM Prison and the matter adjourned.
