Speed limit back up to 120 kph on July 1

SPAIN (Agencies) The Government announced yesterday that the top speed limit in the country would be going back up to 120 kilometers per hour as from Friday, July 1st. The Minister for Development, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, said at the announcement that "it doesn't make any sense" when the price of a barrel of Brent oit is now at $106, compared to the €115 when the speed reduction came about on March 7. Rubalcaba said that it has been calculated that some €450 million has been saved as a result of having lowered the limit then. He also said that the cost then of changing the signs on all the major roads in the country was at the €230,000, a similar amount to what the reverse measure is expected to cost now.
