One of the world's greatest innovators died last night. The world media is full of obituaries and, although the news arrived when newspapers in Europe had already gone to the printers, most online versions put it up immediately. The Apple website, which was otherwise open for business (in true Jobs management style), opened onto a B&W photo of the man and then on to another white page with the following text: "Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple." An email address was also posted for the public to share their memories, condolences and thoughts.
