256 dogs 'removed from streets' in 2009

Local Police, with the cooperation of municipal workers assigned to La Línea's Animal Control Centre, removed 256 dogs from the streets in 2009, according to a press release from the Town Hall. In addition, 24 fines were issued to dog owners "who disobey regulations by letting their animals roam freely to dirty streets," said the communiqué by Councillor Gabriel Gonzálvez. The police also picked up 65 cats, four horses, four snakes and three vultures.
