Condoms on a palm tree? Surely not!

If you can tell us what they are, you won't be getting a prize. In fact, they're not condoms but admittedly bear a troubling resemblance. These 'balloons' contain the only known poison against the Red Palm Weevil. They are drilled into the palm tree, which slowly absorbs the liquid - but it is not always successful and depends largely on timing: the earlier the weevil is detected and the sooner the poison is administered, the better the chance of the palm's survival.
