(Agencies) A woman from the Canary Islands but whose name has been witheld, has left €3million to protect the Iberian Lynx (photo), it emerged this week. The woman's will named three animal charities to inherit a total of €9million. The Iberian Lynx is on the most endangered species in Spain and a native of Doñana; some of their money may well go to half-brothers Calia and Coca, who cannot be released into the wild or used for breeding until they are cured of their feline leukaemia, which killed four of them in 2007. The remaining €6m is going to Amigos de los Animales and the Association for the Defence of the Borrico de Rute, in Córdoba, which protects that subspecies of donkeys. The inheritance payments must be approved by the Spanish government but no problems are expected in that respect.
