5 tons of hash found on board Dutch sailing boat

ALGECIRAS (AGENCIES / Photo: EuropaSur) A Spanish Customs helicopter sighted a suspicious-looking 17m sailing boat 10 miles off Punta de Europa, in the Straits of Gibraltar, at dawn last Wednesday. It aroused suspicion because its engines were shut down. A patrol boat was dispatched towards her, and Customs officers proceeded to inspect the vessel, the Dutch-registered Phoenix III, finding some 150 to 200 bales of hashish, amounting to some 5 tons of the drug, though a final haul is subject to confirmation.
