Pronouncing Spanish - start at the beginning (L)

Aside from a warning when placed in the rear window of a car, this is a lateral alveolar consonantial phoneme and has a value of fifty in the Roman numerical system. Other than that it is pronounced the same as in English - but it is not the same as a double-L, which is a whole separate 'letter' in the Spanish alphabet and which you will see this evening. Other words to practice on: letra (letter), loco (crazy, nutcase), lámpara (lamp), luz (light, electricity in colloquial Spanish: corte de luz = power cut).
