Mayors of all parties get together about A-377 road

Committee to take matter to Sevilla · Roads in area in bad state
GAUCÍN The mayors of ten municipalities and a variety of political colours got together this morning in Gaucín to decide on what next to do about the A-377 road between Gaucín and Manilva (as we reported here). The remaining ten mayors of the twenty expected, most of whom had already signed the agreement at the previous meeting, offered their apologies for not being able to assist. Thus, the mayors of Casares, Gaucín Algatocín, Benarrabá, Cortes la Frontera, Jimera de Libar, Benadalid, Genaguacil, Jubrique and Pujerra, created a COMING SOON:

commission made up of members of all political parties of the area (IU, PP, PSOE, PA and Independents) who will formally request the inclusion of monies in the next Junta de Andalucía budget (2013) to make repairs to the road, where the last time anything was done was in 1994. The road, which links the Serranía de Ronda with the Costa del Sol, is full of potholes and other things that make it difficult and dangerous for access by tourists to those villages in the hills that depend on it, as well as for those in the mountains that work on the coast. All the mayors agreed on the dismal state of all the roads in the area, so they will include a request for repairs and renovation to these in the petition to the Junta road authorities.
