ANDALUCÍA / Jimena From what we gathered this morning, not many people felt it the earthquake that took place some 46 kilometres underground. The epicentre was located northeast of Jimena de la Frontera and was felt as far away as Cádiz, Málaga and Sevilla, though there are no reports of damage. Residents of Arriate, Manilva and Estepona, all in Málaga province, as well as in La Línea de la Concepción, did report feeling the earth 'move'. The 112 emergency number registered some ten calls on the subject. The media in Andalucía had full reports, to which the vast majority of Jimena residents, including Prospero, woke this morning to hear about it.

Manilva hosts Comic Festival this weekend

MANILVA (Agencies) The word cómic (with an accent) is not the word for comedian in Spanish. It refers to what used to be called comic magazines, or 'comics' for short. There is an enormous interest in Spain about the subject and it's a very healthy sector of the publishing business, too. Local fans will be wham!ing their way to Manilva, where a festival is being held this weekend. Also present will be local artists, many known well beyond the confines of the area, like Carlos Villanueva, Ricardo Tejeiro, Antonio Garrido 'Garry', Jesús Barony and young Cris L. Vargas, the author of the mural at Parque María Cristina in Algeciras. Films, shops specialising in the art, and others, and activities for the kids are on the programme. Manilva urbanizations sliding downhill

(EP/Image: CanalSurWeb) Twenty-three homes were evacuated this morning in Manilva because the side of a hill is sliding down above the urbanization of Monteviña. The landslide, 800 metres wide, a metre deep and travelling at 3cms per hour, has broken up the terraces and the authorities believe further sliding could drag the buildings' foundations down with it. Another 11 homes were evacuated at Las Higueras for the same reasons. Damage to homes alone in M;anilva is calculated at €4.8million, according to Mayoress Antonia Muñoz.
